All I can say is WOW!!! From the moment I made the phone call and spoke with Lisa, my experience has been unreal and so wonderful. Lisa is pleasant and full of knowledge. The office is clean and COVID protocol friendly! I had a cleaning that surpasses all other cleanings that I’ve had in my life - and trust me, I’ve had many! State of the art technology is the name of the game at Chemla’s office!! After my incredible cleaning, I had an exam with Dr. Chemla. He literally talked to me about every tooth that he had a concern with. He walked me through how he’d like to proceed with care. He asked me questions about my life and if I understood all that he said. This is the kind of doctor we all need - kind, gentle, smart and amazing. I’m so grateful for the experience and I can’t wait for my friends and family to become patients!!!

I do not have adequate words to say how much I recommend Dr. Chemla - he is incredibly caring for his patients, very compassionate and understanding. The quality of his work is exceptionally excellent, in my case - creative! I do not think any other dentist would actually take me on with my dental issues and extensive work that he is doing for me for the past 6 years. He will coordinate care as needed with specialists and always goes an “extra” mile to make sure work is completed in the best possible way. It is so very incredible to have such a specialist to care for you not just as a patient, but as a person. I would more than highly recommend Dr. Chemla, absolutely and without reservation. May God bless him in every possible way! 🙏🏻The office staff is also wonderful and helpful in every possible way - scheduling appointments with specialists, even coordinating the prescription for me recently when I could not call during work hours. They also go “extra” mile in every possible way to take care of their patients! Thank you so much to every one of you! 🙂

I’ve been a patient of Dr. Chemla's for just over a year and have received a range of treatments. Unfortunately, my previous dentist left me in a bad place with a root canal and extraction becoming necessary .However, Dr. Chemla takes a more proactive approach and prefers to address issues before they become bigger problems, which I appreciate.Liza, the dental hygienist, has handled three of my cleanings, while Dr. Chemla has taken care of a filling, a crown, and an onlay. He also removed my permanent retainer and provided new ones. When a specialist was required, he provided a great referral.Throughout all of these experiences, I’ve been very satisfied with the care I’ve received. I trust that Dr. Chemla has my best interests in mind and appreciate how he takes the time to explain everything clearly.Lastly, his office manager Lisa is amazing. She is super friendly and always on top of things!

I can’t recommend Dr. Chemla enough. I came to him to help me with a severe front tooth chip. Not only does my repair look amazing and identical to my original tooth, but the entire experience was pleasant considering the work I got done. Dr. Chemla is extremely warm, kind, light hearted, and comforting as I was quite distressed about my front teeth. He was happy to explain each step in my repair and I never felt confused or unsure about the next steps. During the period of time that I had a temporary tooth, he made sure I knew he was always available if something happened and it came off. I also really appreciated how after every visit he would check up on me later that day with how the tooth was feeling/looking. On top of his welcoming demeanor, he has been by far the best experience I’ve had with getting numbing shots and work done. He explains everything he’s doing and genuinely values you having a good experience. I used to dread getting numbed but after many painless visits to him, it wasn’t a concern anymore. As far as the work that got done, I genuinely cannot see a difference between my real teeth and the repairs. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience or result!

What types of tooth extractions are there?

There are two main types: simple extractions for visible teeth that can be removed with forceps, and surgical extractions for teeth that are broken, impacted, or below the gum line. Surgical extractions require an incision in the gum tissue and sometimes the removal of bone around the tooth. Your dentist at Beverly Hills Cosmetic Dentistry will determine which type is needed based on your tooth's condition and position during your examination in Beverly Hills.

How long does a tooth extraction take?

Simple extractions typically take 20-40 minutes from start to finish, including numbing time and post-extraction instructions. Surgical extractions can take 45 minutes to over an hour, depending on the complexity and whether multiple teeth are being removed. The actual removal process at Beverly Hills Cosmetic Dentistry is often much quicker than patients expect, with most of the appointment time devoted to preparation and aftercare instructions.

Is tooth extraction painful?

The extraction procedure itself should not be painful due to local anesthesia that completely numbs the area, though you may feel pressure during the removal. Post-extraction discomfort is typically mild to moderate and peaks within the first 24-48 hours before gradually improving. Pain medication prescribed by your Beverly Hills dentist, along with ice packs and rest, effectively manages discomfort during the healing process at Beverly Hills Cosmetic Dentistry.

How long is the recovery time after tooth extraction?

Initial healing typically takes 1-2 weeks, with the extraction site closing and soft tissue healing within 3-4 weeks. Complete bone healing can take 3-6 months, which is important to consider if you're planning a dental implant replacement. Most patients can return to normal activities within 24-48 hours, though strenuous exercise should be avoided for several days as recommended by the team at Beverly Hills Cosmetic Dentistry.

When is tooth extraction necessary?

Extractions are recommended when a tooth is severely damaged by decay or trauma, infected beyond repair, causing crowding issues, or impacted (unable to emerge properly). Wisdom teeth are commonly extracted due to a lack of space, while baby teeth may need removal if they don't fall out naturally. Your dentist at Beverly Hills Cosmetic Dentistry will always explore all treatment options before recommending extraction as the best solution for your oral health in Beverly Hills.

What can I eat after tooth extraction?

Stick to soft foods like yogurt, pudding, mashed potatoes, and smoothies for the first 24-48 hours after extraction. Avoid hot, spicy, crunchy, or chewy foods that could irritate the extraction site or dislodge the blood clot. Gradually reintroduce normal foods as healing progresses, and follow the specific dietary guidelines provided by Beverly Hills Cosmetic Dentistry to promote proper healing and avoid complications.

What are the risks and complications of tooth extraction?

The most common complication is dry socket, which occurs when the blood clot dislodges prematurely, causing increased pain and delayed healing. Other rare risks include infection, nerve damage, sinus problems (for upper teeth), and excessive bleeding. Following post-operative instructions from your Beverly Hills dentist and attending follow-up appointments at Beverly Hills Cosmetic Dentistry significantly reduces the risk of complications.

Will insurance cover a tooth extraction in Beverly Hills, CA?

Most PPO dental plans provide coverage for medically necessary extractions, with Aetna in-network benefits available. Our financial coordinators verify your specific benefits and arrange flexible payment options through Cherry, CareCredit, or customized office plans.

How long does it take to recover from a tooth extraction in Beverly Hills, CA?

Initial healing typically occurs within 7-10 days, though complete bone remodeling continues for several months. Following our detailed post-operative protocols, including prescribed medications and dietary modifications, accelerates recovery while minimizing complications.

How soon should I replace a tooth after tooth extraction in Beverly Hills, CA?

Immediate replacement depends on extraction site conditions and bone volume availability. Our iTero scanning technology enables precise evaluation for implant solutions or staged treatment planning.
